Meet John A. Walsh

Contemporary Folk-Rock singer/songwriter from Vienna, West Virginia.  Raised in Marietta, Ohio, John began developing his craft in 1974 at the young age of eleven.  Since then, he has written well over 200 songs and has played them live in both solo and band scenarios all over the United States.  While serving in the U.S. Air Force, John had the privilege of sharing his music & message with his fellow GIs in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, during Operation Southern Watch.

John’s writing style is both challenging and thought-provoking.

An A&R reviewer said of his lyrics: “...images are beautiful & visual...sounds like a painting…”

John has never earnestly attempted to become a “rich & famous” musician, and he doesn’t desire that now.  Rather, he feels strongly compelled to use his God-given gifts to help and inspire people.  “Somehow make a difference in a hurting world in search of meaning” is exactly what he wants to achieve through his songs.  How?  Two ways: spreading the positive and thoughtful message of the music; and, raising funds for projects & programs that reach out to people, positively impacting their lives.

Offering the music to a wider audience allows John to achieve both goals.  The CD purchaser gets the message of the music at a very reasonable price.  In turn, the target project/program receives the maximum donation of CD sales proceeds from JAW Songs.  John has managed to keep production costs very low without sacrificing any quality; therefore, more dollars per sale get to the target than would through a commercial recording enterprise.  The most exciting aspect of this venture is the uniting of John’s music customer to a worthy philanthropic cause.  John’s slogan

“Good Tunes for a Good Cause”

A little more about the music...the accompaniment and arrangements give just the right backdrop to the song’s theme further enhancing the listener's experience.  John cut his musical teeth in the 1970’s, absorbing all he could during what could be arguably termed “The Decade of the Singer/Songwriter.”  The likes of Jackson Browne, James Taylor, Cat Stevens, John Denver, America, and the Eagles influenced John’s music education.  In addition to songwriting, John is an accomplished acoustic guitarist and he was also greatly influenced by the players behind the vocalist.  David Lindley, Andrew Gold, Davey Johnstone, Lowell George, and Dan Dugmore are a few of the great session musicians who helped to mold John’s style as a musician.

All this musical upbringing and years of life experience take form in John’s songwriting.  You will find a familiar place when you immerse yourself into one of his tunes.  Familiar, yet through a viewpoint you may not have considered before.  Why?  Because John’s writing is an observation of life as he experiences it — and it’s a life we all live every day.  You won’t find fantasy or exaggeration; just an honest set of thoughts, values, and questions about the topic of the song.  No, you won’t find anything offensive or shocking in John’s message; but you might well be moved, inspired, and challenged.  The more you listen, the more you’ll hear.

“Good Tunes for a Good Cause” is a grass-roots campaign to gather the resources of many and channel them to a worthy cause.  There have and will be a variety of people, groups, and projects in need of the time, talent, and financial resources of those who have the means.  John has dedicated his musical gifts to this end.  His take?  The opportunity to play for whoever will listen and the chance to impact someone’s life for the better on some level...in other words, for the love of it — plain & simple.

You’re Invited to try out some of the music, which is well worth the purchase price.  Once you’ve experienced it, you’ll want to recommend it to friends & family members; you’ll want to give it away as a Christmas gift;  you’ll want your company to purchase them to give away to employees and customers.  The more interest each one of us can generate, the further the message of the music will be spread and, most importantly, the more we can help those in need and less fortunate than we are.

“The generous will themselves be blessed...” - Proverbs 22:9
